MINNESOTA
miss you guys ALOT.
to those that matter: i miss you all too.
well, decided to revive this blog and update friends and family of my happenings in Minnesota. it's been quite a roller coaster getting over here, settling down, new environment, new friends, new beginnings. i guess i do miss ppl back in singapore alot. family, friends. i miss hanging with friends for supper, chillout at timbre, lunches at raffles place during internships, stuffs like that. i miss my mum's nagging (weird but i find myself doing things she always nags me to do even though she aint here with me). i miss making fun of my little brother at home, irritating the heck outta him and then we both end up smiling gleefully. i miss my helper at home, always ready to whip up a hearty meal, cleaning, washing, tidying. i miss sg food. the food here is alright, but cold sandwiches or pizza aint the way to go. been trying to cook more asian food these days. though my pad thai failed terribly a few days back. (ouch, ego bruised). was SO happy to find united noodle and coastal seafood. got a whole ton of asian food and premixes and sauces. (((; and i miss the efficiency of sg's public transport. seriously. i was waiting in the cold last night and i realized that i have been taking these things for granted back home. this country is a place of many firsts for me, when i was here in 2007, it was my first time in such a faraway continent, first time puncturing 2 tyres at once, first time staying in a student hostel and so on. now, over here on exchange, it's my first time being in somewhere SO cold, first time cooking for myself, first time doing up a room from scratch, first time washing my clothes by hand, first time falling on ice while running for the bus, first time watching a lacrosse game, first time gg for a house party, first time driving and im looking forward to proclaim many more firsts. (hopefully more good firsts than bad)
well, some of u may have heard already but yeah we didnt make it to the gaga concert. what a let down (suck it up bitch). she felt too ill to perform. the news broke through the cold silence in the car as we sped down lafayette to purdue uni to the concert venue. it was wrenching. guess the only symphonies of the night was that of her tunes playing over and over on the radio. had some really lousy korean food (and to think the waitress thought we loved the food so much we want to return) and some hotel brekkie and headed back to minneapolis. i managed to claim another first: a speeding ticket. was caught on the highway in wisconsin. painful painful. 250 bucks. no messing around in wisconsin (i hate that place already).
its week 2 now, and im already settling down into this university town. today we have heavy snow. all morning till now. guess im learning the art of walking on snow/ice. im learning patience. really. i will be better. gonna try working out more too! this place needs some heat. gonna go for some free trial on wed, play squash on tue, badminton on wed, and maybe table tennis tonight. whee. and thurs we are heading to chicago!!
